My career to date has been complicated. I grew up in Coventry, then went to the University of East Anglia in Norwich to study music then train as a teacher. Poor support in my first job meant I left teaching after only one year. Instead I spent ten years in administration, including secretarial support, charity finances and internet research.

On moving back to Coventry in 2006 I decided to give teaching another go, spending 7 years in mainstream primary schools and another 3 in primary special schools. Previously I'd never considered working with people with disabilities, but those three years were so rewarding and so much fun. Teaching was no longer for me, but friends suggested I try becoming a therapy assistant. Next time I'll a post about my time as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant.
